The Knoll of Northbridge

Broomham Park or The Knoll in Northbridge

Out of Sight

Somewhat hidden at the north eastern end of the Northbridge Peninsula is Broomham Park, popularly known as The Knoll. This small park is located atop an impressive rocky outcrop of large lichen covered boulders surrounded by native bushland. It is a peaceful park and a destination in itself, having extensive views, attractive bush and only the sounds of the birds. Down the hill is the lovely shady Clive Park with picnic tables and BBQ facilities, as well as a secluded beach with overhanging trees.

Circular Walking Route 1.0 – 1.5 hours

Broomham Park – Clive Park beach – Byora Crescent

This circular walking route takes in Broomham Park, Clive Park and the surrounding streets. Many of the streets have architect designed homes and beautiful gardens to enjoy.

We started our walk near the Bonds Corner Cafe on Sailors Bay Rd (a good place for coffee and a bite to eat). From Bonds Corner, follow Neeworra Rd to Broomham Park on Byora Crescent (as shown on the map below).

The Broomham Park sign is at the start of the track to the top of the knoll. You might even be lucky enough to find an old comfy chair at the top… as well as a makeshift shelter similar to an aboriginal humpy 🙂

After enjoying the views at the top of the knoll, follow the path down the other side to join Byora Crescent. Turn right and walk a little way along until you reach a path/stairs on the left to Dalmeny Rd. At Dalmeny Rd turn left, then you can either go down Tycannah Rd to Sailors Bay Rd or follow Dalmeny Rd a little further along and take the stairs to Minimbah Rd.

Coolawin Rd homes & gardens

We always enjoy exploring the streets, admiring the beautiful homes and gardens… and there are plenty of them in Northbridge!

After leaving Clive Park, follow Coolawin Rd through to Weemala Rd. As pictured below, 77 Coolawin Rd is an amazing home. According to the architect (Michael Robilliard & Associates Pty Ltd), the house was “inspired by the buildings on the Amalfi Coast perched above the water as this one does. The wall of tiles was designed for the house. We call it a lantern wall as it glows on the inside when the sunlight strikes it.”

At the end of Weemala Rd is a path/stairs to Wollombi Rd, turn left onto Wollombi Rd and work your way back to Sailors Bay Rd around the edge of the Northbridge Golf Course.
